Our Annual “Bike Day!”

Bike Give-A-Way and Bike Safety Training
Offered on the 2nd Saturday in May EVERY YEAR

Bike Day is the Dream Center’s biggest event of the year and brings joy to children while also supporting adults in need of transportation. 2019 will mark the 12th annual Bike Day and for the third straight year, we expect to give away over 300 bicycles, first to children and youths, then to adults with no other means to get around.

We ask that everyone desiring a bike register in advance (click on link below or fill out an application at the church). Applicants will receive a confirmation postcard with their appointment time to be fitted for helmet and bike. Youth are asked to take a safety course and agree to wear a helmet while riding. Helmets are limited so if you have a helmet, bring it.

Bikes are collected year round and can be dropped off at Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, 308 Main Street, Johnson City, NY, Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm or at other times by calling ahead for an appointment. Our friends and partners from the Southern Tier Bicycle Club work with volunteers to work and learn bike repair.

Contact for Bike Day is Shannon Dodge at 797-3938 ext. 117

“Keep the Legacy Alive”

When our kids told us that they did not feel safe in their neighborhoods, the Dream Center began.

“Keep the Legacy Alive”

An initiative for neighborhood restoration in Johnson City, NY. We applied for and received a $24,000.00 grant from the Upper New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, to give to residents to help improve the exterior appearance of their homes, whether they rent or own the building.

We then designated Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 PM as “Restoration Wednesday’s,” and the community converged on the South side of Johnson City to come alongside neighbors in a struggling community. Click “Get Involved” to register your group to “Keep the Legacy Alive!”

Community beautification continues, a garden tool sharing program began, where residents signed up to borrow tools. Contact us at (607) 797-3938 for further information.
